Los Angeles County Group One

Lieutenant Colonel Marc Cohen is currently the Deputy Commander of the Los Angeles County Group One. Group One has about 300 adult members and about 200 cadet members (between 12 and 20 years of age). It covers the Los Angeles area from the San Fernando Valley south to Torrance and Norwalk, and east to La Verne.

Forty Years and Counting!

Lieutenant Colonel Marc Cohen received the Civil Air Patrol Silver Medal of Valor in 1986 and the Pacific Region Outstanding Senior Member of the Year in 2005.

Accomplishments
Joined CAP at the age of 15 in 1970 at North Hollywood Cadet Squadron 3.
1973 – Earned Private Pilots’ license
1976 Member of Composite Squadron 81. Co-owed a Bellanca Citabria used for cadet O-Flights.
1978 -1985 Cadet Program Officer Gp1 – Originated Group 1 “Spartan Day” program where cadet squadrons would compete in fun skill contests, such as volleyball, “Project X,” and drill competitions.   
1979 – USAF Squadron Officers’ School graduate
1979 – Pacific Region Staff College Graduate -- Seminar advisor 1980, 1984 and 1989
1981 – Aerospace Education Congress (Portland, OR)
1983 Queen Mary, Long Beach; 1985 Los Angeles -- Inducted into the “International Barons” by Jules Zumwalt
1983 – International Air Cadet Exchange - ISRAEL
1986 – Presented the Silver Medal of Valor for rescuing a young lady from a burning apartment.
